1 Year HRT Update – Male to Female
December of 2016 marked my one year on HRT! Here I talk about new and different mental/physical changes happening since my six-month update.
Mental Changes
I have been in a super-duper lovey/affection type of mood all the time. I feel like I’ve grown up a lot in the last couple of months. There have been a lot of life changes. I actually moved out on my own with my brother. This past month-and-a-half my appetite has been obsolete and I don’t know where it went. I have to remind myself that it’s time to eat again which is not good. As far as mentally I have felt a little more even, I still got those jagged, little bumps in the road, but it’s less aggressive than it was before.
I haven’t really talked about what kind of hormones I have been on. I have the testosterone blocker as an implant in my arm. It is a small little implant in my arm. I have these small patches as my estrogen. It is thin and looks like paper and you just rip them open. You remove the 2 small tabs like a band-aid and it goes on your stomach (or wherever your dr. tells you). You do want to make sure the skin is clean as it is a medicine and you want to be able to absorb it into the skin without stuff blocking the area. It leaves a lot of sticky residue from the clothing rubbing on it. Removal of this can be a little painful since it is medical adhesive.
Physically
Let’s start talking about my hair. I am wearing clip-in extensions right now just to fill it in. My hair sits just below my collarbone. I have to say it’s at the same length that it has been for the past 10 months. My boobs did grow a little bit more, but it’s nothing too substantial. You can hardly see them. My hips are a little chunkier and so are my thighs. My waist as well it has the rippling effect going down on the back part of my back. I don’t know if you guys aren’t talking about it just dips more right here. For my body hair, I have been continuing to do laser hair removal. It’s all growing in patches at the moment. And because of that, I can’t give you guys an honest reading of how hormones will affect your hair growth.
My veins. I just had surgery this past week, so my veins aren’t as smooth as they were earlier this week. You can kind of see them but truly being on hormones has reduced the spider veins in both my feet and my hands.
Sex Drive
Last but not least I’m going to talk about my sex drive. Before hormones, my levels were pretty high and since being on hormones my levels have dropped to like the bottom. I’ve pretty much had more than 3/4 of my sex drive that is completely removed since being on hormones and my pleasure is definitely not the same. That’s a whole other subject, I definitely want to give you guys a little bit more on that at another time.
Closing
Being on hormones is not an overnight experience. It’s going to take time. Don’t take more than what your doctor prescribes because it won’t help. Actually having too much of the hormone counterbalancing your natural hormones, if they’re not diminished completely, will cause the body to produce more natural hormones because of the foreign hormone setting off the balance. You will get more testosterone into the body by taking more estrogen than the doctor prescribed.
As you guys noticed there is not very much that has changed since 6 or 12 months other than my hormone levels being more even and my loss of appetite. My appetite being gone was a huge change that has happened.
My one-year mark has not been something too fascinating or special but I do want to just say that I will have more videos on my transition coming out very soon. This new year has a lot in store, especially for my transition. I’m super excited and can’t wait for you guys to see it. Until then I hope you all stay patient and beautiful. I love you guys.
